Poker Humor

This made me laugh so hard.

Still chuckling.

The spewage was ginormous.

Feared for the laptop keyboard.

Spelling Bee

I had the joy of watching my oldest participate in his school's spelling bee. He'd already won his class bee. His main concern was not going out in the first round.

The announcer decided to do a practice [easy] round first to let the jitters settle down.

[Tear] I'm so proud.

First real round.

Second round! Wooooot! The older students went first and started dropping like flies this round.

And now he falls apart.

He did a great job handling the pressure!

We're all so proud!

Pizza Frame

One of the bowling establishments that I frequent offers this deal to its patrons: a free pizza [or vv/e is the special of the moment] to any team if the ENTIRE team strikes in the 5th frame.

Now, as you know, this team I bowl on is loaded with 200 average bowlers and, sigh, me. You would think that we would be rolling in pizzas... well, you would be WRONG. It's not always been my fault either.

We lost one of our regular bowlers recently to a shoulder problem. And, last week, one twisted his ankle playing post-bowling basketball [Doh!]. So this week we had three regulars and two scabs bowling with us.

Can you say PIZZA FRAME!

You would think we were starving third world refugees.

We even called Ankle Boy to gloat!

GG scabs!

Steak and Poker

Tonight my inlaws - the nicest people ever - took us out to dinner at my favorite steak place. It's one of those cook your own or they can cook it for you places.

Alexander's has a great salad bar. I stuffed myself on Garlic Texas toast while I cooked my steak. My steak was perfect and huge so I left some for lunch tomorrow because I was sooo o oooo o having one of their chocolate pan cookies with ice cream and hot fudge.

I made it home and prepared to donk out of the Pokerslut Tour Season III Event #1 NLHE. I played Ante Up's first AIPS event yesterday and another cheap tournament and got no where in both. Even my ring game was pathetic.

It looked like I was going to donk out in splendid fashion. I managed to get short on chips pretty easily. Then suddenly thinks started to turn around. I doubled up with 88 v Gambit's 44.

It seems like the very next hand - because it was the very next hand [I checked my and history] - I got JJ and called Gambit's raise in position. I hit top set and slow played the heck out of it. Turns out he hit bottom set and thought he was slowplaying me. I took him down and in the matter of a few hands went from SS to flush in chips.

I put a short stacked early raiser all in with 88 v his AK and my 88 held up. More chips for me.

I decided to flat call Panger's late position raise with AKs instead of reraising. Dunno why, just did. Flop AJx. She checks, I bet, she raises, I push, she folds. NH. I'm sure she had KK or maybe QQ and I got lucky. More chips for me.

Three rounds in a row I get small pocket pairs under the gun on a shorthanded table. I HATE THAT. First one, 66, I folded. Second one, 55, I raised and lost some chips when it didn't hit. The third one, 44, I limped and ended up with Panger from the BB. I flopped a set but I checked hoping she would catch up. Check it all the way down to the last 4 on river - yeah, that's right I hit quads with my 44 - and made a min bet, she folds. GG me. Minimal chips for me.

I called Scabs all in with KQd v his 99 and made a straight. More chips for me. GG Scabs.

Now this hand with Snarf was really interesting. When we got to the final table I find myself to the left of two huge stacks and toward the bottom of the chipcount. The blinds had taken their toll on my stack when we were shorthanded.

I raised and he called me. I put in a continuation bet and he raised me. I had so many chips in there already I just couldn't afford to not push here. I think my mistake was NOT pushing the flop. This would have been the perfect spot for a stop and go. I got lucky and sucked out an Ace on the turn. Pure luck.

Snarf pushes with 99 and I wake up with JJ. I was a total luckbox tonight. I admit it. GG Snarf. More chips for me.

It gets down to three handed. Kato raises and I have JJ, AGAIN! I reraise and she pushes with KQo. I hit a set on flop and she doesn't improve. GG Kato.

I have about a 3:2 chip lead. Which is insignificant.

Rascony got a huge part of my chips on this hand. I admit I played this horribly.

Delightful hand

Only because I won it, of course! The BB was a very passive player and I figured he wouldn't raise the pot so I had odds to call and see a flop. The flop gave me a draw and nobody seemed terribly interested in this pot.

I had outs...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I suppose I'm required to post this KK suckout since I whined about every Ace in the deck coming out to play the last time I had KK.

Capped PF. Raised on my leadout flop bet. Turn was a work of art but the fear of a Ten kept me from going crazy here.

Home Game II

I was reminded at bowling last night (646ish series, tyvm) that I had taken a picture of a nasty suckout hand at the home game.

I feel obligated to post it now.

I wasn't involved, but our favorite suckout artiste, Eric the Madman, was in the middle of it as usual. Eric has a knack for sucking out in the most glorious fashion.

Backstory

If I recall correctly, it was the first night ever of Home Game. The pot was probably raised by Eric the Madman* and called by Carl the Maniac*. The flop comes:

Carl, must have been a blind - or limp called from early position - because he leads at the pot. Eric starts rambling about Jacks... do you have a Jack? Why so much? blah blah blah... After some of this he decides to go all in. Carl calls and shows:

for two pair.

Eric shows:

For, well, nothing but a pair of Tens. The turn is:

Eric sucked out a set v. Carl's two pair! OMG! The crowd goes wild!

The river is:

Now the crowd really goes wild! Eric sucked out Tens full of 3s v Carl's 3s full of Jacks. Ewwww!

We return to the regularly scheduled program....

I think Eric (33) got it all in on flop v Derick (AQ):

Another glorious resuckout for Eric!

Home Game

Saturday night was Home Game night.

I made a few changes to the structure to give us a little more play at the lower levels.

Starting Chips: 2500

I allow one rebuy through the end of the 4th level. I know most people don't like rebuys but they are great for a home game; keeps the players in longer so you don't have someone waiting around forever for the second SNG to start AND it builds the prize pool.

I squeaked into the money of the first SNG, going out in 3rd.

The second SNG had 7 players. Only one player was out but we were past the rebuy period. I was the chipleader.

UTG pushes

Fold

Fold

I decided to call this with AT thinking that the SB and BB would probably just fold since they had been playing pretty tight. Imagine my surprise when SB says, "Ok, I gotta go, too." Oh crap! THEN the BB is looking like he's deciding between pushing and calling. He finally just calls.

So, my AT is going 4 ways with two all in. NOT AT ALL WHAT I PLANNED.

Flop: AJx

I'm all for checking it down but it's obvious the BB is thinking about pushing. There's a little table talk and he decides to push. At this point I'm committed to calling and fully expect to see a better Ace. I have a big stack and it won't kill me but I would really have rather played this HU.

The hands are shown:

UTG: 99
Hero*: AT
SB: mucks
BB: QQ

No help for anybody and I take out 3 players. SS player to my right says, "Look at that, I just made the money!"

So, as it stands I may have gotten the SB out if I had pushed but there was no way the BB was going anywhere with QQ.

AT v 99 is a good call for me.

AT v QQ not a good call.

Now I have a ginormous stack. I take a risk with A7 v 44 and hit a 4 flush.

Down to HU with player on my right. We play a few non-hands.

I pick up KT and I put him all in. He calls with K8.

Flop: xx8 T x

So I sucked out another one and take it down!

*Hero, hahahahah, hardly!

My friend Teresa sent me the link to PokerEdge. I put my screenname in just to see what they had to say about me. I guess I can't complain.

After that stellar [moon]* play I was content to leave the table with LAG's donation. I picked up this hand UTG and didn't think twice about folding it UNTIL I saw this flop.

Sigh. I know we all have these but this is by far the sickest one I have seen so far.

Leave me a comment about your Best Unplayed Hand!

Latest Limit Adventure

What's wrong with this picture?

Go ahead, make a guess. I'll wait.

Let's see.... I have KK, it was capped pre-flop. And, yes! Of course an A has to come on the flop. I bet out and get raised; I know I'm not good so I fold. These other two go at it. And just to make it even more interesting another A falls on the river.

Only when I have KK UTG do all 4 of the Aces in the deck come out to play.

NH GG IGHN.

Reno

All this picture taking made me want to go through my portfolio [hahahahah, as if!].

I found these pictures I took at the Women's National Bowling Tournament in Reno over Memorial Day weekend last year.

The bowling was good, the poker was not.

I actually thought a full night shot would turn out better.
I was wrong.

I couldn't resist this one!

More Ice, Ice Baby

OK, I couldn't resist. The sun finally came out today. While it's only 15° out the sun makes it just too damn inviting. I had to go take some pictures of the sparkling trees.

I couldn't see anything on my lcd so I just had to point, shoot, and hope like hell something pretty happened.

Ice, Ice Baby

Yeah, this winter has been interesting to say the least.

The last 3 days have been very cool, hovering around freezing during the day and dipping below at night. That's not usually a problem though. It was this time because the humidity was unusually high. Which means.... ice. And lots of it.

This, among other less pleasant things, is what happens under these conditions:
