Razz Hates Me

After I got home from my make up bowling session today I decided to fire up Full Tilt to see what might catch my interest.

Silly me, I fell for a $5 HORSE MTT. I also decided to play some Razz ring to keep me from doing anything stupid in the HORSE. Little did I know.

I played 3 hands the entire first hour of HORSE and about that many at the Razz ring table.

I was rolled up twice in Razz.

This one killed me. I was so short. I ended up going in with the next hand: 235 only to brick out verses 245.

Week from Hell

Monday:

My mother and I have a ton of errands to run before the kids get home from school. Yet, I had agreed to help my father-in-law download some software for his new laptop which would take 3 lifetimes to do with his dialup service - I have been trying to get him to upgrade to DSL or broadband for a few years now.

So, sure enough, I get a call from his saying he could be over at 10 am. I was hoping this wouldn't take to long but of course that wasn't the case. I spent 3 hours removing needless programs, downloading his desired anti-virus and adaware software, installing Office and some general configuring.

All of this wouldn't be so bad if MY OWN DAMN COMPUTER HADN'T STARTED ACTING ALL FUNKY ON ME. So not only am I dealing with his business, my own many computer exploits were combining to drive me nuts.

Ok, so let's recap: I have a ton of things to do, my FIL comes over with his new laptop, and my own computer starts acting squirrelly.

It's now 1 pm, I haven't eaten and I have to run errands.

It's no wonder that I didn't remember to update the Pokerslut Leaderboard.

Tuesday:

My mother, here from Germany, needs to go to the Social Security Office to fill out her claim for benefits (something we were supposed to do on Monday, see above.)

It turns out that she needs a bunch of documentation that she LEFT AT HOME IN GERMANY. Sigh. Just another issue I have to do deal with THAT'S NOT EVEN MY PROBLEM.

Add to this a sudden onset pain in my abdomen that is FARKING KILLING ME. I had visited the emergency room back in February for the same thing. The ER Dr. told me that he had no clue what was wrong with me but here's an Rx for Vicodin and Pravachol and hopefully these will help. At the time I refused to fill them because I was convinced that one would only help the symptoms while the other would help with SYMPTOMS I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE.

Flash forward to Tuesday: I was desperate enough for relief of any kind that I went to my local pharmacy to fill those prescriptions. Turns out my insurance won't cover the Pravachol but the pharmacist recommended that I try Prilosec OTC - which at 15.00 compared to 160.00 was a bargain. I took one of those immediately and waited to get home to indulge in my narcotic. Since it was pretty late in the evening I took the Vicodin and went to bed. Can't really say anything about how well it works but I was still pretty uncomfortable most of the night.

This may give you a clue as to how bad it was: I called in sick for bowling. Enough said.

P.S. Still not in the mood remembering to update Pokerslut Leaderboard.

Wednesday:

Not feeling to good and certainly not going to eat anything just in case.

Manage to figure out what my puter's problem is [thank god for Google].

Last month I scheduled a Home Owner's Association Board meeting for tonight. In the mean time, a friend schedules a home party, my bowling team from the fall season has to bowl in the Tournament of Champions AND my chiropractor invites me to his home game FOR THE SAME DAMN NIGHT.

Sigh.

I end up rescheduling the board meeting (a perk of being president), placing an order for the home party after the fact, bowling with my team (we got pwned) and running off to the poker game.

The guys in this game personify the any two (sooooooted) cards donktards. I folded, folded, folded, folded, ad nauseum. I made money but only because this one guy couldn't/wouldn't fold to me even when I check-raised him with TPTK on the turn. On the river I pushed all in for less than a couple dollars and he folded.

Didn't get home until midnight.

P.S. At least I did remember to write Full Tilt support for the last Pokerslut Tour event's results as I remember too late to try to get screen shots of the standings.

Thursday:

Got up to get the kids off to school and went back to sleep until 11:00. Cleaning ladies coming so we need to get out of the house. My mother is ungodly perky and insists on doing some shopping BEFORE WE GO TO LUNCH WHEN I AM STARVING.

Finally have lunch. My nicotine addicted mother needs a smoke so we stroll before heading off for yet more shopping. Target and Lowes are finally behind us and we head home.

At 8:08 pm Zooks97 informs me that he and his brother will be receiving awards for having earned the most Accelerated Reader points for their respective classes and the cermony will be at 9:00 am THE NEXT DAY.

I already have to run an early errand and that's just another thing I will have to do on a day I was hoping would be filled with NOTHING. Of course I neglect to call the in-laws to warn them of the impeding award assembly.

P.S. Still waiting for results from Full Tilt so no Pokerslut Leaderboard update.

Friday:

Shower at the crack of dawn.

Recall that in-laws might want to go to awards assembly so I call them at 8:15. They are of course thrilled that I gave them 45 minutes warning. [moon]

Run out of house to do errand before going to ceremony at school. Get to school and finish my errand only to find that I have "extras" when there are no such thing as extras.

Attend assembly. Applaud loudly and proudly.

Run back home to clear up the "extras" issue. Return to school to correct my error.

Head off to McDonald's to satisfy my mother's urge for a Sausage McMuffin with Egg and a Bacon, Egg & Cheese biscuit for me. Too bad they effed it all up and I ended settling for a Canadian Bacon and Egg biscuit WHICH IS NOT THE SAME, just saying.

So my mother is jonesing for a stroll through Big Lots. Sigh. I take her there and at one point start to snooze on a couch in the furniture section when I tell her I'll just wait for her in the car. She has no idea how dangerously close she came to being left in Big Lots.

We get back home and I sleep until the kids get home.

My mother is dying to try this salmon dish that TGIFridays is advertising on TV every 15 minutes. So, yeah, you guessed it, we had dinner at Fridays.

Guess who HAS to go to Sam's Club for a cigarette run?

While pulling into Sam's Club she spots Kohl's and says we can go there first for a pillow she wants. One purse [for me] and a pillow later we are finally on our way to Sam's.

A case of beer, a case of Captain Morgan drinks, a case of Gatorade, an Rx and several packages of Lily bulbs later we finally get home.

I'm working on half a vicodin and a drink.

My mother is leaving soon. Thankfully.

P.S. Still nothing from Full Tilt. I may have to email them again.

8:30 pm Update

Mother just tripped on stairs and twisted ankle.

Upside: probably no more shopping for a while.

Downside: had to share my vicodin.

Kid Talk

Zooks99 received a Google Webkinz for his birthday on Friday.

My children have collected a zoo of Webkinz.

So they had parked their menagerie next to my laptop on the counter. The were gazing proudly at their collection when this conversation happened:

Zooks99: "You're looking at my Google, aren't you?"

Zooks97: "Yeah"

Zooks99: "You can touch my Google if you want to."

Hysterical laughter from the parental units.

I couldn't help but flash forward a few years. Sigh.

Token Frenzy

I have just starting playing the token frenzies offered at Full Tilt. Today I played my first $76 Token. After a bit I noticed Hoyazo on my right and $mOkee two to my left. I'm 3/4 of these: 2 $26 and 1 $76 tokens. Let's hope I can turn these into some cold hard ca$h.

Now, this guy on my right was a big stack and he was putting a lot of pressure on me but seriously?

Tagged

I was tagged by Short-Stacked Shamus.

7 things you probably didn't know about me:

  1. I was born in Frankfurt, Germany, to an American GI and his German bride after 4 months of marriage - you do the math. I lived in Germany on and off until I was 6. I'm told I spoke fluent German. I can understand far more than I am willing to speak. My mother moved back to Germany a few years ago after about 30 years in the U.S.

  2. I went to 23 different schools from kindergarten through 9th grade. I went to one school from 10th-12th grades and what a shock that was. I graduated 3rd in a class of 53.

  3. When I was a sophomore in high school Mt. St. Helens blew her top while I was a few miles upriver from there visiting a friend who lived on the Columbia river; we watched in awe as the smoke and ash drifted our way. Months later I was invited to fly to Seattle with a friend and her dad to see a Mariner's game in the King Dome. We flew as close to Mt. St. Helens as they would let us. It was amazing to see. It was also my first flight in a small 4-seater plane. Taking off from Sea-Tac at night was mind blowing.

  4. I was a cheerleader... the fat one. Enough said.

  5. I was the first in my family to graduate from college. It took me a while, I was almost 31 when I finally got my B.S.M.E. from the University of New Mexico. I met my husband while I was there. I was the A.S.M.E. (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) student chapter president and he was a professor and adviser to ASME. He's only 1.5 years older than me so don't get any ideas about the old codger with the hots for the young co-ed. Ok, don't let me stop you and your fantasies just know that it wasn't anything like that.

  6. I started this blog only because I wanted to post a comment on Columbo's blog and he doesn't take comments from non-bloggers. My friend T, had started one long before then and I would read her's and Hrbek's as well as a few others. I just didn't think I would have anything to say that anyone would want to read. It became apparently rather quickly that I couldn't shut up and forced everybody I knew to read my blog. I even resort to blog dropping at the poker table. Shame on me.

  7. Shamus said I wasn't allowed to say anything about BEING a bowler but I found a way around that. Last night I bought a new bowling ball - bet ya didn't know that! Wooooot! There's a good chance I might actually, you know, BOWL with it. Since I'm one of those people that tosses ball at pins... what are they called... hmmmm... oh yeah, bowlers!

P.S. I'm tagging: Khanwoman, Kent Hrbek, Macanthony, Post Modern Boy, and 1st Rule of Poker.

Bowling: T.O.C.

So we bowled our first Tournament of Champions event tonight.

We had a bye for the first night.

I bowled just under my average for the night but the guys were on fire!

Three of our bowlers shot over 700!

Yes, we won... handily.

After the first game a reporter from the local paper talked to Jimmy, our anchor. As you can see he shot a great game: the front 10 then a spare for 289!

After we finished bowling three of us went in and talked to the reporter some more. I think we will be included in the write up in the paper tomorrow.

The next match is this Friday. Unfortunately, that is Zooks99's birthday and I'll be having dinner with the family at my favorite steak place instead of at the bowling alley. [Yes, that was sarcasm! I love my boys! Give me steak!]

Can You Say Cold Deck?

My bestest friend T showed me this today.

Craziness in $5 MTT

I'm so glad I folded.

Happy Mother's Day

I did have to get my own donuts today but I can live with that.

Check out the beautiful flowers I got!

I plan to eat donuts all day (damn you Kent Hrbek, damn you to hell) and be a total bum.

Be good to you mother - she's earned it!

Taekwondo & Baseball

While baseball has started Taekwondo has not yet ended.

Zooks97 had testing for TKD today AND baseball practice.

Testing went well. He should be awarded his blue belt just in time for the summer break.

Zooks99 went to his first practice today. He was in good form.

Gotta love that hair!

He didn't catch it but it sure looked good.

Way to line up that throw.

Still loving that hair.

Such concentration!

Baseball Season

Yeah it's that time of year again.

First practice was today... and it's a mere 87° outside.

Gotta love that multiple exposure setting on the new camera!

4

How Many: 4

What: Stitches

Where: Left Index Finger

When: This pm.

Why: Because I couldn't say no to my son when he batted those big baby blues at me and begged me to make his newly found stick into a bow. Sigh.

That's what you get when you are a klutz and are handed a pocket knife and a stick.

Better me than him, though.

I knew right away that it wasn't good when the blood started to SPURT out. I applied pressure and raised it above my head for a minute or so before I slapped an industrial strength bandaid on it as tight as I could make it.

Oldest flew out the door to forage in the forest of the neighbor's back yard where the offending stick was found. I looked at adorable son #2 and said, "This isn't good. I think Mommy cut it really bad. I'm probably going to have to get stitches when Daddy gets home."

Concerned look followed by a long pause and then, "Can I go play in the forest?"

Sigh, "Sure."

I emailed the other half and informed him that I would be heading to prompt care when he got home from work.

The prompt care nurse gets the whole story then asks to look at it. I undo bandaid and it looks quite innocuous for a 1 inch long cut. I start to bend it and it begins to ooze just a little blood.

The doctor strolls in just moments later and asks me to come over to sink. He proceeds to squirt a barrel of water on it and it starts to sting and by sting I mean STING!

Nurse comes in and ask how much pain I'm in on a scale of 1-10. I say a solid 5. Since I was in no pain when I arrived I didn't think this was a good thing. Doctor and I share a look and I ask, "Stitches?"

"Yeah, I'd say two. Do you want Lidocaine? Since it will only be two you can go without since it'll be at least two stings for the shot," he blithely states.

Hahahahahah, as if.

I could tell it was going to be MORE THAN TWO STITCHES and I WANT DRUGS!

He agrees to dope my finger and starts stitching. Now I probably could have handled it without the drugs but I can't stand the tugging. It's the tugging that wigs me out completely. So I did my best to not watch and babbled with the nurse while the doctor put in not 2, not 3, but 4, YES YOU HEARD ME, 4 stitches in my finger.

I asked to take a picture, or 5, before they bandaged it up. Just for YOU MY DEAR READER. I am so thoughtful.

So if you are the least bit squeamish DON'T LOOK DOWN. Too late.

That's how much I care.

Have a good day.

P.S.

New Camera

I got a new camera the other day. I really didn't NEED one but I definitely WANTED one and since Mother's Day is just around the corner I felt free to treat myself.

I got a Fuji S5200 package. I love the Fuji F10 that I bought last year around my birthday and my only complaint about it is that it doesn't zoom enough (only 3x).

Zooks97 has long since taken over the old Kodak DX6490. He's decided he only wants to shoot in black and white. So I had to get out my new toy and give it a whirl on the black and white setting.

Children can be so trying when you are taking their picture, but this Picasa collage turned out great.

Awwwwww, sleeping beauty.

Hilarity Ensues

Whenever this commercial comes on my house goes nuts.

Funniest stuff I've seen in ages.

Screen Shots

As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words"

That is especially true when it comes to poker. I would much rather look at a screenshot of a hand than read a hand history any day of the week.

But, sometimes it's really hard to get a shot while you are in a hand. Luckily Full Tilt has a graphic last hand history which makes it somewhat easier to get a shot of a hand but you still have to take time from your play to copy, paste, edit, and save. On any other site you are pretty much screwed.

I was reading Doog's Blog where he mentioned a FREE screen capture software, ScreenHunter 5. Well, I'm all about the FREE. I downloaded and tested this bad boy. I give it 5 THUMBS UP!!!

You can read about Screenhunter 5 or just go ahead and download it. It was very simple to install, setup and use.

How to Become an Evil Overlord

How to become an Evil Overlord.

And last but not least:

115.Finally, to keep my subjects permanently locked in a mindless trance, I will provide each of them with free unlimited Internet access.

Mom, I'm done...

Zooks99: Mom, I'm done!

Zooks: Really? You ate breakfast, took a shower, brushed your teeth, got your shoes and socks on, graduated college, got a job and moved out?

Zooks99: Uh............ no. ...... I don't have my shoes on.

My kids will surely have a twisted sense of humor and a huge therapy bill.

Yes, this was satisfying but I think I would have rather won a token in the frenzy: worth more and takes less time.

Some PLO

For a change of pace today I sat at a 6max $10 PLO table.

We were 4 handed on and off. I managed to play well for me.

I was so proud of my laydown of this hand. I flopped the nuts but had no heart redraw.
