Home Game Extravaganza!

Yes, that's right! Khanwoman was here and we had a record turnout for the Home Game.

The best thing that could have happened came before the game started. A neighbor called to see if Zooks97 could spend the night. I couldn't get "YES, FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD, YES!" out of my mouth fast enough. Four kids (two numero uno children) in my basement running amok during the Home Game isn't really an ideal situation. But, with one of the oldests gone it was actually quite pleasant.

We had 17 runners last night many of which came from the T-boys' (Tim, Tucker, Toby & Honorary T-boy Jeff) home game. The last player to show arrived after making the trek all the way from the house next door! D'oh. I even called to make sure he was on his way. The cards were in the air in record time for my home game. Woooooooooot!

Miss T got busy raising UTG a couple times when this happened:

All in on turn and waaaaaaay behind.
T manages to suck out a 3 on the river versus Jeff's 55
All together now, "Ewwwwww!"

Scoot stopped by from Table 2 to complain about how tight it was over there. They had 8 players to our 9 and they weren't in the mood to gambol it up before the rebuy was over. We had 7 rebuys for the night and the first two players to go out came from Table 1 (Zook's & Khan's table). Two players come over from the tighty mctight table only to be eaten alive by the sharks with chips at Table 1.

Miss T manages to go out fugly to Neighbor Gary on a stone cold bluff. D'oh! I could have told her that Gary was unbluffable!

Before the final table I chipped up with QQ. Neighbor Gary raised and I just smooth called with my QQ as did Jeff U. from the BB. Flop Qc8s9c. Not exactly the best flop for my bitches but I'm hoping to get some chips here. Jeff U. puts a bet out there, Gary folds and I go all in. Jeff hems and haws and says he puts me on AA or KK but stills decides to call. Luckily he was drawing very thin and my bitches held up!

When the tables combined there were several really short stacks that went out rather quickly. The final 4 were: Mandi, Mary (Brown Johnson Smith Jones Gordon), Zooks and Gary. Woooooooooooot! We're in the money! We're in the money!

Mary lost a big pot to Mandi and ended up going all in in the small blind to my big blind. I was forced to call in the dark for only a couple more chips. My T3 sucked out a rivered T versus her much bigger starting hand. GG Mary.

I managed to score Mandi's chips when I called a flop bet with middle pair and turned two pair but there was now three diamonds to a flush on the board. Mandi bet into me and I shoved. She took a while to call and the first words out of my mouth were, "Do you have a flush?" She turned over Ah3d for nothing but a 3 high flush draw that didn't get there. GG Mandi.

Now it's Neighbor Gary and I heads up for rolls, er, chips. There were 60k chips in play and I had him out chipped. Gary was either getting really bad cards or folding too much. I figured if I turned it up a notch I could get all his chips. Well, not so much. I ended up shoving with Q7 hoping to steal but got called and doubled him up. D'oh. After that donkalicious move we're about even in chips.

However, that move set him up for this move. I look down at AKh. Gary completes the BB and I move all in. He calls with little hesitation with his K7. A K hits the board and I take all but his last few chips. He has only 1 more chip than the SB so he's all in and I call without even looking at my cards. He doubles up to 2200. Again I call the extra 2 chips without looking at my cards as he's all in again. With the powerhouse cards we were both dealt it really was a crying shame that I sucked out a win. GG Gary.

Yeah, that's right! My 24o ran over Gary's 26o!
For The Win, Bitches!

Yawn. Zooks wins another home game.

Gordo and his lovely bride, Mary (Brown Johnson Smith Jones Gordon), were kind enough to invite KW Bitches and I to their home game kicking off at 3:00 pm today. We're planning on being there so watch out!

T is on Her Way!

Wooooooooooooot!

T and her girls are on the road. Every time they have come here T has managed to somehow, someway get lost or otherwise misdirected in Indianapolis. A friend (not Zerb) and I were discussing this and figured her for a 50% likelyhood of a repeat BUT the bitch bought herself a Tom-Tom for Christmas. She already texted me to say they made it through Indy.

The weather is doing it's best to rain on our parade - literally and figuratively. Luckily it's mostly rain until they get here. We have nearly 4" of snow here. With any luck this is all we will be getting until after she gets back home.

The boys and I are busy cleaning house, doing laundry and getting ready for company. Actually, I am busy cleaning house, doing laundry and getting ready for company. They are busy not cleaning house, doing laundry or getting ready for company. [Survivorman voice over drifts into my new office nee dining room.]

Tomorrow night is HOME GAME! You knew that was coming didn't you? Of course you did! Even if I didn't have one planned I would make one just for T! Looks like this one might have a record turnout as long as the weather holds. Wooooooooooot!

Boborella: and I got it
Boborella: ;)
Boborella: expensive mistake.... although if he calls a double

Boborella: he's not laying down the up and down draw
Boborella: and for some reason, my hunch is he calls any
number of raises in that situation-- he was, after all, sooooted

Suited connectors in position and I'm already in for a bet. After that I had some pots odds, maybe not enough but what the hay. LOL.

Technodrama - The End Game

Imagine my surprise when I got the email from Woot.com saying that I could return my Toshiba POS laptop a mere 3.5 weeks after I sent them the email requesting to return it!

My first reaction was Woooooooooooot! LOL, yes, Woooooooooot!

After the first week of owning the Toshiba, I had purchased an HP laptop from Sam's in the hope that I would be able to return the Toshiba but had given up hope and returned it to Sam's and instead called Toshiba to purchase an extended warranty to insure that I would have a functional laptop for at least 3 years instead of the mere 18 months that my last HP lasted.

Sigh.

My next reaction was CRAP! I have an extended warranty!

After the nice lady at Toshiba Direct said they would refund me the extended warranty I was back to Wooooooooooooot! and raced out the door to Sam's Club.

I was not looking forward to all the time it was going to take to set up the new HP but I'd been through it once so I was sure that it would take much less time this time around. It turned out to be even easier when I remembered that I had posted about all the software I had to load. I headed straight to that post after I un-installed all the bloatware that came pre-installed and went straight down the list item by item and installed most everything I needed.

A few things had to wait for me to import my Outlook email so I could have my product keys. All in all it went very well and significantly faster than it did the first time.

Toshiba, Old HP, New HP

The only hitch came when I installed my Office 2003. Turns out I had registered too many copies. Sigh. I was on the phone with Microsoft to explain to them that I wasn't trying to cheat them and I would be returning the laptop that I had just recently install the software on. After about 45 minutes on the phone with them they gave me a validation code and I was up and running.

The next challenge was getting all the data off the Toshiba and onto the new HP. Turns out the whole Vista networking thing is a pain in the ass. I ended up using an SD card to transfer many of the files. Luckily I hadn't been using the Toshiba long enough to amass a lot of files.

So far the biggest difference is the performance. For some reason the Toshiba processor would get maxed out when I would run Skype, Full Tilt and Realtime. The HP barely breaks a sweat. The HP also has two hard drives for a total of 200GB. The Toshiba only had one 120GB. Those of you that know of my penchant for downloading poker shows and movies see the problem here: not enough hard drive. I'm delighted with my extra hard drive and have already loaded a ton of poker content that I seed via PokerBay.

Shipped the Toshiba off to Woot yesterday. This horrible chapter of my computing life will be over once and for all when I get my credit on my credit card.

I'm delighted with my HP and hope to never have to use the 1 year extended warranty I purchased. I guess you can say I've lived and learned.

Presents Oh My!

So this year there's just not that much to go under the tree. My kids have hit that age where they don't really want that much. But, we did have to buy them some new bowling shoes, some deck shoes, jeans, etc.

I cracked myself up thinking I should take all these things and put them under the tree with scattered shreds and balls of wrapping paper. Then tell my kids, "Look at all the stuff you got for Xmas but opened already!"

I'm still chuckling inside.

I'm diabolical, I know.

Bowling Buzz

I have it.

Not to self: no more drinking and bowling.

It was position night. We're in first.

We kicked butt the first two games. It helped that Trey bowled a 279. I had a respectable 184, 190. In the middle of the second game I shared an Amaretto Stone Sour with Jimmy. Then I went on to suck down a Piece of Ass. Yummmmmmmm.

Oh look, a shitty cell phone pic.
And, yes, I was on my way to being buzzed when I took this.
But I swear that had nothing to do with it.
Srsly.

Then I bowled a 135.

No more bowling and drinking.

P.S. We're still in first.

Cake RTR Freeroll

This was my first Cake RTR Freeroll. Pretty sure it was my first. Heck I can't remember.

Luckily for me, I was at a table with all the rest of the players sitting out. I managed to steal almost every chip at the table before another live player showed up. Of course I got AA 6 times during that time frame, KK and QQ a few times, numerous pairs and AK, AQ, AJ, etc.

When the live players show up I'm 2nd in chips. And I just go down from there. A few steals here and there and one more AA hand that I was able to take a short stack out with. That's all she wrote for me.

I raised OTB with KQc and the SB pushed. I thought about it and called, bitch had AA. Sigh.

I did get her back with TT v AA when a T hit on river. She didn't deserve to get AA so many times anyway. LOL.

I noticed this in the table chat and couldn't help but wonder WTF was going on but then I got moved to another table.

I played a $10 SNG on FTP last night. I've been running very card dead lately so I never expected to make the money in this event.

$20 SNG

I decided to try my hand at a $20 SNG on Full Tilt. I've been playing mostly $10 SNGs lately and that's been going well. I've learned to have a much more patient game and I think that's helped me a lot.

I get my seat and proceed to get the worst run of cards I have ever seen. The table, with the exception of one maniac, is playing very tight. The maniac is approaching 100% VP. Srsly.

Here's a synopsis of my hands:

[3s Ts]
[Jc 8d]
[4d 7c]
[Qd 5d]
[8d 3c]
[Th 8h]
[9s 3h]
[8h 3c]
[Th 3s]
[3h Js]
[5c Jh]
[Ts Kc]
[7h Qd]
[7d Qd]
[Qc Jd]
[3c 7s]
[5h Jh]
[7s 2h]
[3c Ad]
[3d 6h]
[4h 8s]
[7d As]
[4h Qd]
[5h 4s]
[9d As]

[Tc Qc] First time I put money in pot (from sb). Checked to river and I called a small bet from maniac who had 52sooooooted to win with a pair of Ts

[Qd 6c]
[Ts Js] Raised in front of me and maniac behind me I folded.
[Kc Qd]
[Qh Kd]
[Ks 8c]
[7s Ac]
[9d 4d]
[5s Js]
[Kd 2c]
[Qs 6s]

Nothing to look at, move along move along....

[7d Tc]
[3d 8s]
[6h 5h]
[4h 7h]
[2h 8c]
[7d 3s]
[3d 8d]
[3s Qc]
[7s 7h] 60/120 I open shoved for 1280, no callers
[5d 6d]
[6s Js]

Right about now we have 6 players left with one Huge stack (maniac), one really short stack and 4 stacks about 1300ish.

[5c Kc]
[8s Qh]
[3h 2h]
[Th Js]
[6c Qc]
[5c 6d]

By now I'm definitely the short stack. 5 left: 1160 (me), 3 @ 2-2.5k, and maniac with 5k.

[7s 2s]
[Ad Kh] Open shove, no callers.
[3d 2h]
[Js Ac] Open shove after Big Stack limps, no callers
[8s Qd]
[Qs 6h]

Down to the bubble

[5h 2d]
[Js Ks] Call and raise ahead of me, I fold
[9s 2h]
[4s 9d]
[6d 3h]

[Ah Th] Raise and Reraise in front of me, I fold AJ v KQ. I'm ITM.

[9h 2d]
[6s 3c]
[4c 5s]
[7h Jh] I push from SB called by maniac in BB with A2d. IGHN.

I guess the moral of the story is this: sometimes you just need to stay outta the way and let the big dogs fight. I'm happy with the scraps in this case.

Vegaspalooza 2008

It's hard to believe, I know, but we are already planning dates for Vegaspalooza 2008!

Harrah's has released the 2008 WSOP Schedule!

Wooooooooooot!

I can't tell you how excited I am.

I'm looking seriously at the week of June 8th. There will be a Razz event and several PLO events during that time frame.

I'm hoping that Binion's will again have their own version of the Poor Man's WSOP. Last year was the inaugural year for the Binion's Poker Classic. They hosted events comparable to the WSOP events only one day earlier and at a fraction of the buy-in (10%).

I have no desire to play in the Ladies event this year - Binion's or WSOP. But I would definitely be interested in a Razz or PLO event.

So get your game face on and make those reservations. I know I will as soon as they have the dates up on the website for the No-Class Non-Stop to Vegas Airline that services my hometown.

Home Game, Bowling and Partying

Who knew I could fit so much into one small weekend?

Home Game
I was invited to Tucker's home game on Friday night. Got the go ahead from The Other Half so I headed over there after a side stop at Starbuck's. He had a very nice setup although the talking Tournament Director was a little over the top (Toby you are a such a geek!).

There were 11 runners so we started with 5 at my table and six at the other table. The only remarkable hand I remember:

Me: 8d9d
Victim: Ah6h

I limp and Victim pops it up. I call.

Flop: 89h8h

Check, check

Turn 3h (he hits the nut flush)

Check, check

This is where I should have bet but I didn't want him to think I'd hit the flush. Knowing his holdings after the fact I definitely could have bet here and gotten a call.

River 3

Board 89h8h3h3

Well shit. I'm probably not gonna get a lot of chips outta this with a double paired board. I bet 200 into a pot of about 450. He says, "I gotta call you but you probably have me" and shows his flush to my flopped full house.

Eventually we lost two players and combined down to one table. I think I played two hands before I was all in blind (T2o) with 600 of my 700 in the BB. I was so card dead it wasn't even funny. I ended up sucking out with a T on the river. I made a comeback only to go out 3rd but ITM.

Only reason I made it that far was because Jeff was an utter luckbox and sucked out a wheel with his Arag v Toby's QQ all in preflop. He also killed me with AQo v my ATd when I out flopped him with a T but he runner runner flushed me on the end.

Still, thankful that I made it to the money and got to play in an event that I didn't have to host!

Bowling
The boys were playing in the city youth bowling tournament at 8:30 am on Saturday. I didn't make it home until about midnight Friday so I was draggin butt on Saturday morning. Luckily they bowled much better than their 2006 season ending averages.

Handy Man
After a stop at Chevy's for lunch we headed home. Good thing the timing was right. I'd forgotten all about the handyman coming over to finish repairing the holes in the basement walls and do some touch up painting. I had him shave off a door while he was here as well.

I love my handyman. He's got the greatest attitude and some serious skills. I found him when I bought a light tube from the hardware store and needed someone to install it. The guy at the order desk game me Robert's card and said, "This guy is real good but you didn't get his card from me."

Since then Robert has done a few jobs for me and I've been very happy with his work. After chatting me up a bit and getting some more mud on the holes he said he had a proposition for me. His wife has been answering his business calls and setting up his work schedule for him but it seems that she's not doing it quite the way he'd like and it's starting to cause some friction. He was wondering if I'd be interested in working for him taking his calls and setting up his schedule.

Now, I have poker habit you might have heard of. Might. And, I want to be able to take a trip to Vegas every year and maybe another Palooza or two I'd like to hit as well. The Other Half has been pretty understanding of my habit so far but I know he'd rather not support my Poker Hobby, as it were. I'd already mentioned to him that I was thinking about doing contract tax work in the spring to fund my next Vegaspalooza and he seemed alright with that.

After some discussion and thought I decided I would give it a go working for Robert a few hours a week from my house - heck, I'm home and on the computer most days anyway. We're going to start this after the kids get back in school. I think this might work out very well. If not, I gave it a try.

Party Party Party
Suburbanites know how to party?!?!?! Who knew?

The Other Half's previous boss lives in our neighborhood. We received an invite to their Christmas party and decided we'd go. Martini's and beer! OH MY! I tried a Chocolate Peppermintini before I switched to Sam Adams.

Previous Boss went around recruiting players for a Ping Pong tournament. I was partnered with somebody I didn't know but we did make it past the first round only to go down in flames the second round.

The Other Half was partnered with a friend who is very cute and perky. She got a little crazy and it started to rub off on some of the players. It was a scream to watch. One guy - originally from Australia - started chanting Auzzie Auzzie Auzzie Oy Oy Oy! I was all over that!

I was having a great time but we'd told the sitter we would be home by 10:00 and, after the previous night's festivities combined with getting up at the crack of dawn to go bowling, I was definitely ready to hit the sack.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to hear about continuing madness at that party. Hmm may be time to make a phone call or two to get the scoop.

Pokerslut Tour
Tonight is the Pokerslut Tour Season VII Stud event. Be there, be cool!

Blow Snow

When we moved into this house I told The Other Half that we should buy a snow blower since we now own more sidewalk that we had ever before in our lives. Silence.

I'm sure the words "snow blower" came out of my mouth at some point during the first two winters here. Probably multiple times as I refuse to shovel snow. A girl has to draw the line somewhere. Mine just happened to be in the snow. Silence.

Last winter wasn't too bad. Instead of several small snow storms we had a few HUGE ones. I suggested to The Other Half that we request a donation from the in-laws towards a you-know-what for our Christmas present. Silence.

In the early spring I noticed this bad boy on the Sam's Club Auction site. I picked it up for $600 including the shipping (twice that much at Amazon.com). We made a deal with some neighbors to store it in there garage since they had a three car garage to our oversized two car garage in exchange they would be able to use it.

Now, we knew there was snow coming for a while now and for the last two or three weeks The Other Half has been intending to take the snow blower to the "storage" area for safe keeping. If it did indeed snow a lot we would have to get a car out of the garage before we would be able to use the snow blower. Rather counterproductive.

The Other Half finally dragged it out and got it working. OMG this bad boy is HUGE and works like a charm. Woooooooot! Now we just have to get it up to the neighbor's house!

I can remember saying to myself this is really going to suck if he has K9. Never even occurred to me that he might have limped UTG with KK. Sigh. I pushed the next hand with A5o and got called by AJ. Flopped trip 5s. Pushed with A6 into KK limper from SB and he called from BB with 99. IGHN.
